Killing the Monthly Reporting Week at an Agency
Monthly reporting is the most reliably wasteful process in a small agency, because it feels like client service. It is not. Clients want to know whether the work is working, and a deck assembled by hand answers that no better than a dashboard that is already current.
Start with the data, not the deck
Looker Studio connects to Google Ads, GA4, Meta and most of what you run, for free. The work is one-off: build the template once per client type, not once per month.
Budget four hours for the first one and about forty minutes for each after. That is the whole project.
Keep the narrative, drop the assembly
Clients do still want interpretation. What they do not need is you rebuilding charts. Send the live dashboard link plus three paragraphs of what changed and why.
Agencies that make this switch usually report the client relationship improved, because the conversation moved from numbers to decisions.
When a paid reporting tool is worth it
Above roughly twenty retained clients, tools like AgencyAnalytics start to pay for themselves at $60 to $200 a month. Below that, Looker Studio is genuinely fine and the money is better spent elsewhere.
